Kolkata has always taken the initiative for running for several causes. When it comes to friendship then Bengali’s are the one of the best. Garia Mitali Sangha arranged for a 6km run on Sunday, 14th January 2018.
Professionals as well as beginners participated in the run. The chilly weather and the tremendous fog could not dent the energy and enthusiasm of the runners. The participants ran with full motivation and zest. Among the first ones to arrive at the venue with friends were Subrata Das and Mainak Majumdar who ran together and finished the race. Beginners like Majumdar and Das had come all covered with woollen clothes, mufflers and monkey caps. Seasoned runners like Madhu Biswas from Baruipur braved the chill and ran in vests and shorts.
The most wonderful part of such races is that it not only brings in people from the city but even pulls in enthusiasts from the outskirts. A beautiful example would be of 13 year old Ankita Purkait who came all the way with her mother from Joynagar to participate in the run.
Garia Mitali Sangha Club plans to organise the run every year and looks forward to more and more participants in the years to come.
