Earlier this year, a Durga Puja pandal in North Kolkata showcased the city’s love for football when they turned their Durga Puja pandal into a model of the Salt Lake Stadium. Eighty to ninety cut-outs were placed in the pandal to show the fan following of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Football clubs.
The attire of goddess Durga also had the touch of football. The Goddess was dressed in the colour of Mohun Bagan and East Bengal clubs.
“It is a matter of pride for Kolkata to host FIFA U-17 matches here. What better occasion than Durga Puja to celebrate this achievement,” said Ranit Hait, a soccer fan.
