Every state requires an abode of comprehensive care for the elderly and keeping in mind this noble concept, West Bengal government is planning to set up the first geriatric hospital in Salt Lake.
It is noted that these kind of hospitals are in huge demand as in many cases the elderly people fail to get proper treatment due to lack of beds and doctors. The nodal agency to carry out the entire project is the State Health Department. The proposal is presently in the initial stage but the concerned department has some good plans so that the aged people get attention and detailed treatment at any point of time.
There will be separate geriatricians and medical professionals to address all sorts of difficulties and get them the best possible treatments. The hospital will focus on the treatments of dizziness, fractures, memory loss, psychological revitalization, depression, vaccinations, unsteadiness fatigue or weakness, physiotherapy, diet counseling etc.
