Using glasses to drink water is outdated and almost all of us use bottles made of plastic in our homes and offices. But are we cognizant of the fact that usage of the bottled waters is unsafe? Bottled waters are peddled and widely used by convenience stores and the groceries too. These days we are actually facing a lot of hullabaloos regarding the usage of bottled waters but consumers must know the death-traps related to it.
Water bottles are made out of BisphenolA (BPA). This is in essence desirable for stabilising the epoxy resins. Likewise it is used in manufacturing softer plastics that thwarts cracking. This particular element affects the health of the infants, foetus, children’s brain and the prostate glands of the adults too. If the BPA gets contaminated, it leads to the belligerence and the hyperactivity among the children. It can also shake the normal activities of reproductive system and the endocrine glands. It enhances the risks of developing brain, ovarian and prostate cancer.
Polythylene Terephthalate (PET) is the term to be aware of. We all know that the PET bottles are BPA free but they are inclined towards other health risks. According to a recent survey it has been stated that PET bottles contain contaminants that can hamper the normal processes if reused.
Do you know that to make plastics more flexible, Pthalates are used to a greater extent especially PVC? This may result in the testicular atrophy, liver cancer, and sterility in males etc.
So now the question arises, is tap water safer for consumption? Yes, it is innocuous but it is always safer to get the water filtered.
