Former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Asim Kumar Roy was appointed as the new Lokayukta of West Bengal yesterday. For the next three years Ashim Kumar Roy will hold this position on behalf of the Government. After Samaresh Bannerjee, Asim Kumar Roy has become the new Lokayukta of the state. Samaresh Banerjee was in the relevant post from 2006 to 2009. The seat remained vacant after that and after 9 long years, a new Lokayukta is filling the vacant seat. A meeting was scheduled in the state assembly where Asim Kumar Roy was appointed as the next Lokayukta of the state. The honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and Speaker Biman Banerjee were present at the meeting.
