Brace yourself Kolkatans. A new airport might come up on 1000 acres in Barrackpore. According to sources, the State Government has formed a committee to make the plan more constructive.
The Food Minister and Supply Minister of West Bengal, Jyotipriyo Mullick will head the committee. The committee has identified the area in the Kapachala of Barrackpore. We have learned that Bhatpara and Naihati municipalities to fall under this area. Recently, a rough plan for the expansion of Dumdum Airport has recently submitted in Delhi. Speaking about Dumdum airport, which was built on 1641.34 acres of land and it is expected that the new airport will cover 50 million passengers by the end of 2028. For an alternative airport, 1000 acres of land will be allotted.
If such plans are weaved then we must say things will be narrowed down and the airport area- Gate No.1 and Gate No 2 will be hassle-free.
