Lok Sabha votes are about to commence in a few days and the entire nation is gearing up for it and so is West Bengal. In a media interaction on Monday 1st April, the DEO North Kolkata Dibeyndu Sarkar said that 115 polling stations in Kolkata will be completely run by women personnel. He said that 33 locations out of 506 locations under the Lok Sabha constituency in North Kolkata will be handled by women. Sarkar further added that there will be around 612 polling personnel in 153 polling stations. To imbue knowledge about the Electronic Voting Machine and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) election commission officials are conducting special camps for the poll personnel. To make it easier a new training hall has been opened at the North Kolkata DEO’s office. the personnel will be given proper training at this facility. Lok Sabha polls will be held in five phases from April through May. In parts of Mumbai and Delhi as well women personnel will be seen at poll stations during the elections.
