Alipore Zoo brining in new members

The Zoological Garden in Alipore is going to bring in some new members which include a white tiger, six blackbucks and a pair of sambar deer. However, the white tiger is going to be the main attraction of this process of procuring new animals. The Alipore Zoological Garden is going to obtain these animals as a part of an exchange program with the Patna Zoo, formally known as the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park. The Alipore Zoological Garden in return would send a female zebra to the Patna Zoo. The Director of the Alipore Zoological Garden, Asis Kumar Samanta said, "The six-year-old white male tiger that we are bringing from Patna zoo is mainly for the purpose of breeding to increase the tiger population at the zoo. The white tiger has yellow gene so cross breeding can be done with the yellow tigers as well". Another official of the Alipore Zoo said, "We are trying to make arrangements to procure the tiger by next week while the sambar deer and blackbucks will be brought after the summer months. It will be easier for them to adjust to the weather in the city after summer". The Alipore Zoo currently has six tigers; three white tigers, namely - Bishal, Rupa and Rishi and three Royal Bengal tigers -  Payel, Tista and Raja. All the male tigers in the zoo are currently over ten years of age and are not compatible for mating, tigers are generally fit for mating between the age of five to nine. It is because of this that a new male white tiger is being brought in. The Alipore Zoo presently has ten zebras, three sambar deer and a single deer. The addition of these six blackbucks in the facility will make the deer population healthier.
