It was altogether an awesome experience to relish an entire 6 days snooker tournament and that too in the heart of the city of Kolkata. The annual edition of this tournament was held in Hindustan club and the concluding ceremony was organized along with a gala event in cooperation with Candid Entertainments. The whole event was duly conducted with the aid of Mr. Pradeep Saraogi, the President, West Bengal Billiards Association (WBBA), President of Hindustan Club, Mr. Shiv Kumar Lohia, Mr. Abhay Kumar Surana, Games and Sports chairman of Hindustan Club and last but not the least Mr. N.K.Tulsian, secretary of Hindustan Club.
8th January 2018 was the finale and last day of Fourth Edition of Kolkata Open Snooker Championship and the players were quite optimistic with their last day match. The two finalists were Alfie Burden and Aditya Mehta. Alfie Burden from England was quarter finalist in two key events last year: Gibraltar Open and European Masters. Today also he gave a tough competition to the winner. Alfie came up with his master strokes and was in close competition with none other than our very own Indian player Aditya Mehta. Aditya ruled the Fourth Edition of Kolkata Open Snooker Championship 2018 and grabbed the winner’s trophy.
Aditya Mehta, the clean cut and graceful tall young man was the man of the show. Towards the end of the tournament it was actually one man show. He seized the opportunities and made it for the day. He was a former Asian Snooker Champion and the gold medalist of World Games 2011. On the whole the entire session of Fourth Edition of Kolkata Open Snooker Championship hosted by Hindustan Club turned out to be one of the most happening events in the very commencement of 2018.
