5th May, 2018 – World Cartoonist Day

Over the years, cartoons have given the world a whole new perspective to everything, and it is possible, solely because of the minds of the creators, the cartoonists. With the introduction of “the yellow kid” by Richard F. Outcault, the world viewed in a generation of stories presented in sequential art pieces.

Be it Dr. Seuss, Jack Mercer, R.K. Laxman, K. Shankar Pillai, or Walt Disney, cartoons have come, in every shape and sizes as exerted by these maestros. With the onset of this day, it barged in a moment of appreciation for the incredibility of the cartoonists as well as an encouragement to the young buds in their respective fields.

This day is celebrated fondly by picking up a comic, one was and is in love with and then going down the memory lane to replenish the beauty probed in by them.  Strong characters, convincing plot, hidden depth is all one can receive, in cherishing the comics over the time. Thus, this day is to be taken to experience the new arenas of life through a satiric vision and explore the depths of society through the eyes of the cartoonists.
