The 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair will start from 30th January 2019, at the Central Park fairground. This year the focus country will be Guatemala. This year Iran will be participating in the fair for the very first time. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be inaugurating the Book Fair. During last year’s book fair, almost 2 million book lovers went into the fair and books worth Rs 22 crore were sold. At the fair, there will be books in 24 local languages of Guatemala. Renowned publishers from neighbouring stores will also take part. There will be more than 600 book stalls and about 200 little magazine stalls in the fair.
Apart from the International Kolkata Book Fair taking place, the 6th Kolkata Literature Festival will be held from January 7 to January 9 at the same place. Renowned writers, poets, directors, historians and other famous personalities from various fields will be present on the occasion.
