On Monday the CM proposed to employ fresh graduates and postgraduates as interns in schools which could use some extra help and in return the youth will get to learn from the professionals and gain experience.
The interns will be provided with a stipend from the state government. Graduates interns working in primary schools will get Rs. 2000, whereas the honors graduate and postgraduate interns teaching at higher secondary schools will get Rs. 2,500. The proposal has been made keeping in mind schools in distant places like Sundarbans, Jangalmahal and the Dooars. This will solve the problem of unemployment among youths to some extent. The interns will serve a period of twoyears at the end of which they will be awarded certificates evaluating their performance. This certificate will help them during regular teacher recruitment and will give more preference over other candidates.
