1200 Bus Drivers Receive Training in West Bengal

Kolkata is amongst the most renowned metropolises with a very restricted road space. Understandably, Kolkata has one of the highest vehicle densities.

Since the inception of the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ campaign, Kolkata has witnessed a considerable reduction in the number of road accidents. With the support of the Kolkata Police, the public and latest technology, Kolkata is undergoing a rapid change form a commuter’s perspective. Considering the safety of people and the drivers, the state government has now felt the need to train bus drivers.

The Ministry of Transport of West Bengal and the Police have already introduced a stringent set of rules and regulations for the drivers. Restricting the usage of mobile phones, putting up of ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ stickers are some of the safety measures that are already effective. However, the authorities have finally decided to conduct training programmes for almost 1200 bus drivers of SBSTC (South Bengal State Transport Corporation) as a part of the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ campaign.
