11 Air Monitoring Stations: New Feather in Kolkata’s Cap

Kolkata is desperately in need of an effectively functioning air quality management system to achieve the long-term assessment of air pollutant levels. For now, it has become gravely necessary to use the air quality widgets. Moreover, it can be a more cost-effective approach to fight against the prevailing air pollution.

Studies have shown that air monitoring systems have become indispensable in governing the trend of ambient air quality and current status. This will help the central government to identify the states not abiding by the standard norms too.

The State Environment Department has finally decided to get 11 automatic air quality monitoring stations for Kolkata and other neighbouring areas by December this year. It is known to all that three automatic air quality monitoring stations are already there in Victoria Memorial and in Padmapukur and Ghusuri in Howrah District.

The new automatic air quality monitoring stations in Kolkata will come up at Deshbandhu Park, Maddox Square, Basanti Devi College, IIM in Joka, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Sciences, Beadon Square, police camp opposite Rabindra Bharati University, Administrative Training Centre in Salt Lake, and Police Training School, Barrackpore.

IIT Kharagpur and Biswa Bharati University will also enjoy the facilities of automatic air quality monitoring stations. It is believed by the senior officials that Kolkata is already well equipped with such air quality monitoring stations but these automatic gadgets will be more accurate and canonical.
