100-Million-Year-Old Frog mirrors today’s frogs

A few days back, researchers have found out a few ancient frogs that were fossilized in amber. Do you know that these frogs are actually the shreds of evidence of the species in the tropical rainforest? They are hoping that they will be able to derive a lot of information on how the amphibians have evolved and finally moved to their current habitats.

It was noted that the frogs had moved to the tropical rainforest regions about almost 200 million years ago. It is quite difficult for the scientists to realize the original ecosystem as the tropical forests are not perfect for fossil-making. The frozen frogs along with insects, plants and other related organisms are essentially important sources of learning about these animals living in forests.

Interestingly, these fossils disclose the fact that the ancient frogs look more like today’s frogs. They have not changed much in these years. Sadly, with time now, the frog population has been declining. Environmental alterations, both by nature and man, are responsible for this.
